To celebrate the 20th anniversary of his record label, iDEAL Recordings, Joachim Nordwall compiled ‘The Black Book’. Across three 12” vinyls, it presents previously unreleased works from friends of the label: JASSS, Jim O’Rourke, Dungeon Acid, John Duncan, Stephen O’Malley and more…
Joachim’s distributors, Boomkat, requested the artwork be created in black and white only. I took 3,000 words from reviews of previous iDEAL releases on Boomkat’s website, scrambled them using an online cut-up text generator and then typeset them as though they were spreads in a book. Across the outer cover and three inner covers I then redacted sections of the copy.
